This set is one of the range of "historical" sets issued by the Royal Mint, containing new coins and thematically related historic coins. It contains a two-ounce gold proof coin issued in 2023 which features the obverse design of an original Charles II coin, and a "Guinea" issued during the reign of King Charles II, sometime between 1663 and 1684.
While the 2023 coin is - obviously - new and in Proof FDC grade, the Guinea is acquired through the secondary market; the Mint says it will be in at least "Fine" (F) grade, and may be a different variety and not what is shown in the provided photos (in other words, each of the twenty sets is different). |
