This set is one of the range of "historical" sets issued by the Royal Mint, containing new coins and thematically related historic coins. It contains a two-ounce gold proof coin issued in 2023 which features the reverse design of an original Henry VIII coin, and an "Angel" issued during the reign of King Henry VIII, sometime between 1509 and 1547.
While the 2023 coin is - obviously - new and in Proof FDC grade, the Angel is acquired through the secondary market; the Mint says it will be in at least "Very Fine" (VF) grade, and may be a different variety and not what is shown in the provided photos (in other words, each of the ten sets is different).
Each set comes with an informative booklet detailing the life and coinage of Henry VIII, including a focus on the two coins in the set. |
