This set includes only the four smallest "fractional" gold Kruggerand coins from 2019 - 1/4 oz, 1/10th oz, 1/20th oz and 1/50th oz; they are all in proof quality.
The reverse of each coin depicts the legendary "Springbok", the national animal of South Africa. The obverse features the South African Republic’s first president from 1882 to 1902, Paul Kruger.
The coins have a privy mark in the shape of a bugle on the reverse, as a symbol of The Last Post which is played on Remembrance Day for those who died in the wars. Issued to mark Remembrance Day, which is sometimes referred to as Poppy Day - a memorial day observed by states of the Commonwealth, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, making this date a significant one.
The set is presented in a wooden box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the South African Mint (Krugerrand coins are produced by Rand Refinery together with the South African Mint, and are packaged and marketed by the South African Mint). |
