This ten-coin set is one of the "historic" issues by the Royal Mint combining a newly released coin with historic coins taken from circulation.
The set celebrates the 80th anniversary of one of the most significant moments of the Second World War - VE Day (Victory in Europe) - 8 May 1945.
The modern coin in the set is the gold version of a commemorative 50 pence piece with a reverse design which is a "remastered version" of the 1995 End of WW2 commemorative£2 coin, and is in Proof FDC grade. The historic coins are some of the circulating denominations as of 1945, from half crown down to a farthing - 9 coins encapsulated in a plastic lens, in circulated grade ("Fine or better").
The set comes in a luxury timber presentation box, with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. |
