This is the regular United Kingdom proof mint set of the year. Five pence coins were changed from the earlier larger type to a smaller type in 1990; the set contains both sizes 5p coins.

The coins in it are Proof FDC, with a frosted finish. The set also includes a 1990-dated oblong Royal Mint token.
