This set is part of a range of sets "marking the end of an era" - the beginning of a new chapter in the British monarchy, and a tribute to the end of the 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
The set includes two commemoratives carrying the first coinage portrait of King Charles III and issued "In Memory of Queen Elizabeth II": a £5 (crown-sized) coin, and a 50p coin which was the first circulating coin of the new reign.
The rest of the coins in the set are all the regular circulating coins, from the definitive Britannia-type £2 down to 1p, all of them with the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for the final time, and with a special privy mark on the obverse commemorating her years of her life.
All coins in the set are in 22-carat gold (91.67%), in Proof FDC grade. |
