The mint says about this set: "In celebration of the 50p coin, The Royal Mint has collated this historic Queen Elizabeth II 50p Effigies Set which features the four definitive coinage portraits of Her Majesty struck on this denomination. Each coin is presented as a complete set in a high-quality blister pack to protect them from fingerprints.
With obverse portraits by Arnold Machin RA, Raphael Maklouf, Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS and Jody Clark, this set includes examples of the larger-sized 50p coins, introduced in 1969, as well as the smaller-sized coins that entered circulation in 1997.
Arnold Machin’s effigy of Her Majesty was issued on British coinage between 1968 and 1984; Raphael Maklouf’s was issued between 1985 and 1997; Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait was issued between 1998 and 2015 and Jody Clark’s final effigy was issued between 2015 and 2022.
The reverse designs could vary on the three coins dated: 1969-84, 1985-97, 1998-2015."
The 2022 coin is new and in Brilliant Uncirculated condition; the other coins are from random dates and have been taken from circulation, and are in at least "Fine" grade. |
