This set contains five 50 pence coins carrying the reverse designs of commemorative 50 pence issued in earlier years and having topics related to British culture; all coins in the set are dated 2019.
The Royal Mint says: "The 50p is one of the nation’s best-loved coins. When the British Culture set was released earlier this year, Proof editions sold out in just a few hours – testament to the coin’s popularity with collectors. If you weren’t able to secure one of these sets first time around, we’re delighted to release new silver Proof piedfort sets.
Coins celebrating the first sub-four-minute mile, the Scouting movement, the Girl Guides and Kew Gardens are presented alongside Christopher Ironside’s classic Britannia. Double the weight of silver Proof coins, this set containing piedfort editions is a fitting way to mark a milestone moment for Britain’s most collected coin."
The coin are struck in Sterling Silver and are Piedforts (double the thickness and weight of regular silver proofs). |
