This is a sub-set of the standard United Kingdom Proof Set of the year, including some of the commemorative coins issued throughout the year, but not the regular circulating denominations.
The 2021 set includes the Queen Elizabeth II 95th Birthday £5 (crown) commemorative, plus two commemorative £2 coins: H.G Wells and Sir Robert Scott; these coins were only issued in the year's sets and not released into general circulation. Also included are two 50 pence commemorative coins not issued into general circulation: 50th anniversary of Decimal Day (introduction of decimal currency) with the Queen's Second Portrait on the obverse, and a coin commemorating John Logie Baird, a pioneer of early television development.
All coins in this set are struck in Sterling Silver to Proof FDC grade with a frosted finish, and are piedforts (double the thickness and weight of regular silver proofs). |
