The Philadelphia Set (1993), Coin Set from United States - detailed information

Set NameThe Philadelphia Set (1993)
United States / The Philadelphia Set (1993) - photo

This set was issued by the Philadelphia Mint and contains proof versions of three of the four sizes of American Gold Eagle bullion coins issued in 1993 - minus the full ounce for which proofs were only struck by the West Point Mint in 1993. The coins in the set all have the Philadelphia Mint's P mint mark - unlike the respective bullion coins, which were also struck by the same mint but without a mint mark.

The set also contains an American Silver Eagle - the first set in the American Eagle range to have silver (all earlier ones only had gold Eagles), and a silver medal commemorating the Bicentenary (200th anniversary) of the first United States coinage - which was all struck by the Philadelphia Mint in 1793.

The set comes in a booklet-styled folder with a Certificate of Authenticity. The mintage of the coins in the sets is presumably included in the reported proof mintages for the year.

Notes

It seems that the American Gold Eagle coin sets are not listed in Krause, so they do not have KM# reference numbers.
