Coin TypeTen Schilling

The Ten Schilling coin was the largest denomination of the Austrian Schilling which circulated as a regular coin; it was introduced in 1957 to replace an earlier banknote.

The coins were initially in silver, which changed to nickel in 1974. The latter type was issued in circulation quantities until 1998, and for collectors' sets until 2001.

Together with all the other Schilling coinage, the 10 Schilling denomination was demonetised after 28 February 2002 when the country changed to the Euro currency.
