Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts Queen Elizabeth II of Australia as Monarch. The name of the Queen and the name of the country "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA" are engraved on the top of the coin, and the weight, purity, year, and denomination of the coin "1 oz 9999 GOLD 2009 100 DOLLARS" are engraved on the bottom of the coin. This is the first design since 1966 when the coin depicts not only the face of the queen but also the neck and shoulder lines of the monarch. Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts the symbol of the lunar calendar for 2009, Taurus. Above the bull is a Chinese symbol meaning the Year of the Taurus, below is its English translation and the year of the coin "YEAR OF THE OX 2009".
