Fremantle Prison Silver-plated Commemorative | Downies Collectables
Downies says about this coin:
Perth’s UNESCO sight captured in silver! The Fremantle Prison is one of the Australian convict sites protected by UNESCO. It began its life in 1855 as Perth Gaol, five years after Western Australia was opened to convicts. The Gatehouse, depicted on the reverse of this fine silver-plated commemorative, was designed to resemble the foreboding entrance to an English castle. Its clock, just like the prisoners themselves, was transported from England. So fine is the detail in this strike that you can even make out the time: 11:10! Only 5,000 of these stunning commemoratives have been minted, underpinned by a Certificate of Authenticity. A true testament to Australian history – get yours today! |
