With its origins as a pastime and mode of personal transportation dating back to the 1940s, skateboarding has become a hugely popular and thrilling activity for children and young adults alike. Aluminium Bronze $1 Coin This $1 coin is struck by The Perth Mint from high quality aluminium bronze. Stunning Original Reverse Design The coin’s coloured reverse portrays a skateboarder performing a trick against a backdrop of a skate park and other skaters. The inscription SKATEBOARDING, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and the monetary denomination also appear in the design. Australian Legal Tender Issued as Australian legal tender, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2013 year-date.
