2010 1 Kilo Australian Silver Koala Coin l JM Bullion™
The mint says about this coin:
Introduced in 2007, the Australian Koala Series is an annual silver bullion collection from the Perth Mint. For several years, Perth Mint issued the coins in 1 oz, 10 oz, 1 Kilo, and 1/2 oz silver weights, but the series currently consists of just 1 oz and 1 Kilo silver coins. A hallmark of the collection is its use of new koala designs on the reverse each year. Right now, 2010 1 Kilo Australian Silver Koala Coins are available from JM Bullion. Coin Highlights:

Each of the 2010 1 Kilo Australian Silver Koala Coins offered here comes with an individual plastic capsule. These coins had a final mintage of 30,692 specimens in 2010 and were the second-highest minted in the series behind the 1 oz silver coin (233,531 coins). The other coins issued in 2010 included a 1/2 oz silver coin (13,315 coins) and a 10 oz silver coin (12,928 coins). Koalas share a remarkable evolutionary bond with eucalyptus trees, commonly known as gum trees. These marsupials have developed specialized adaptations that allow them to exclusively consume eucalyptus leaves, which are toxic to most other mammals. Their digestive systems contain specialized bacteria that detoxify the leaves’ chemical compounds, while their sharp teeth and strong jaws efficiently process the tough, fibrous foliage. The obverse of 2010 Australian Silver Koala Coins comes with a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this was one of the most widely-used effigies of Elizabeth II during her reign. On the reverse of 2010 1 Kilo Silver Koalas is the image of a large koala climbing on all fours along the branch of a gum tree. Beyond merely providing sustenance, eucalyptus forests constitute the entirety of the koala’s habitat. These trees offer essential shelter, with koalas spending up to 20 hours daily nestled among their branches, conserving energy and avoiding predators. Different eucalyptus species serve varied functions in the koala’s life, with some preferred for feeding, while others for resting.
