Captain Cook is known as the 18th century navigator and pioneer whose achievements in mapping the Pacific, New Zealand and Australia radically changed western perceptions of world geography. Stunning Reverse Design The coin’s reverse depicts a seated portrait of Captain Cook and HMS Bark Endeavour, within a map outline of Australia. The inscription THE LAND DOWN UNDER and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated in the design.
