The Kingdom of Cambodia has used its modern Riel currency since it was re-established in 1980; in general circulation, it is mostly served by banknotes. The country also issues commemorative and bullion coins for the international market, usually in standard bullion sizes - such as the internationally popular one troy ounce of gold format. This design is the first in the Cambodia Wildlife Series, and features the magnificent Clouded Leopard. This highly vulnerable species has been found in both the rainforests and National Parks of Cambodia. Difficult to spot, the Clouded Leopard usually camps out in the trees during the day before descending to the ground floor at night to hunt. Because it mainly lives in the forest, the Clouded Leopard has developed special paws and footpads that help it grip branches and tree bark. It also possesses a unique anklebone that enables it to move head-first down a tree when it is ready to hunt. As for their size, males can weigh up to 25 kilograms, while females tend to be in the 14-kg range. | ||||||
