Star Trek: The Original Series debuted on American television in the fall of 1966. Though it only aired for three seasons before cancellation, it became an instant cult classic that inspired generations of science-fiction fans.
Following its cancellation, the Star Trek universe of Gene Roddenberry would only grow over the decades to come. To date there have been a total of five television series aired in the US, and as of 2016, there are some 13 feature films that have been produced since the 1970s.

On the reverse of the 2016 ½ oz Canadian Star Trek Gold Delta Coin is the image of the Delta insignia made famous in the series. This elongated star symbol identified members of the crew assigned to Command throughout the franchise’s many iterations.
The obverse of each of these Canadian Star Trek Gold Delta coins features the image of Queen Elizabeth II, with a unique interpretation of the typical engravings that features her name and the phrase “D.G. Regina” along the left-hand side of the Delta design of the coin.
