Gold Baby and Christening ducat 2013 proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
A lovely gift for babies and their mothers Gold baby and christening ducat tops the series of medals marking the most significant moments in life. With this ducat, Czech Mint continues in the old tradition of St. Wenceslas’ ducats that were given in the past to babies in cradles by grandparents and godfathers. Even in poor families, a baby received gold coins – to prevent them from poverty. The baby who is given a ducat as a gift is receiving a talisman to have his/her future steps guided by a lucky star. The main motif on the obverse side of the 2013 gold ducat is a sleeping baby and stars. The legend in circumscription reads “Dukát k narození dítěte 2013“ (Baby and Christening Ducat 2013). The reverse side of the ducat decorated with tiny hearts around the rim depicts a historical pram, an object that traditionally accompanies early childhood. Unlimited edition.
