Ducat CR 2022 King and Queen proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Traditional Ducat Series In 2022, the Czech Mint's traditional Ducat series pays tribute to Charles IV, who was crowned King of Bohemia 675 years ago. On the gold ducat you will find not only the Father of the Fatherland, but also his Queen Blanche of Valois. Charles IV became King of Bohemia after the death of his father John of Luxembourg in the memorable Battle of Krescak in 1346. However, as a strongly religious man, he longed to be crowned in a solemn manner, as he considered this act to be a confirmation of God's will. The coronation was scheduled for 2 September 1347, and Charles' first wife, the beautiful and good-hearted Blanche of Valois, was to stand by his side. The medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS., dedicated the obverse side of the ducat to the crowned royal couple, who stand under the majestic vault of St. Vitus Cathedral. The reverse side, which is common to all four coins of the Ducat series, presents a charismatic portrait of Charles IV together with the facade of St. Vitus Cathedral. The commemorative mintage of only 300 pieces respects the specifications defined by the famous St. Wenceslas ducats. The gold ducat is not only an addition to a collection, but also a traditional gift - for example, for a christening or a wedding.
