Product description The five-year cycle of the Czech National Bank bounded by the years 2016–2020, contains a series of issues commemorating the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovak statehood. The last silver five-hundred-crown coin in quality proof, was dedicated to the jubilee of the Czechoslovak Constitution and the Constitutional Court. "We, the Czechoslovak nation, wishing to consolidate the perfect unity of the nation, to establish righteous orders in the republic, to ensure the peaceful development of the Czechoslovak homeland, to benefit the common good of all citizens of that state and to secure the freedom for next generation. We adopted the Czechoslovak Constitution in our National Assembly on 29 February 1920. We, the Czechoslovak nation, declare that we want to strive for this Constitution and all the laws of our country to be implemented in the spirit of our history as well as in the spirit of modern principles contained in the slogan of self-determination; we want to join the League of nations as an educated, peaceful, democratic and progressive member. ” These words mentioned the most important law of the First Republic, which gave rise to parliamentary democracy, which we are still proud of. The creators of the Czechoslovak Constitution were inspired by the documents of the USA, Austria-Hungary and France, but they added a number of significant innovations. Czechoslovakia was thus among the first states that provided women with voting rights, and it was also among the first countries to establish the Constitutional Court whose task was to assess the constitutionality and respecting of laws. A design proposed by academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů won the Czech National Bank's art competition. The expert committee was amazed by the interesting interconnection of two graphic elements - the book binding of the Czechoslovak Constitution of 1920 and the entrance portal of the Constitutional Court - and also the beautiful interpretation of the middle national emblem.
