Gold half-ounce medal Birth of Vlasta Burian proof | Czech Mint The Mint says about this coin: Product description "I was looking forward to that medal, will they give it to me, or will they not give it to me? If I were accidentally born again, I would have crumpled and then threw myself away..“ With these words, Vlasta Burian complains in his memorable performence in the movie Anton Špelec the sharpshooter, that he did not receive the coveted medal. But the Czech Mint will not leave the King of comedy without a medal! The commemorative medals are the refunds for a cancellations of the issue from the Czech National Bank and are based on the winning proposal of the competition. The numbered issue from the cycle the most beautiful unrealized proposals of CNB is traditionally minted in one half of the troy ounce of a pure gold and is complemented by an illustrated Certificate of Authenticity with a thematic text. Burian's talent was a gift, that the Lady Luck is handing out only rarely. His acting was a perfect combination of improvisation, black humor and posh satire. Every night on the stage he could play out quite unique concert and surprise the audience, but often also his colleagues. There probably was not a role, which he could not handle. He could turn a spontaneous and natural sense of humor against the pathos and even the snobbery in the society. He wonderfully managed to take the advantage of his origins - born into a family of a tailor and patriot - and gained a big popularity among all the social classes. Apart from a verbal skills, he was also renowned for his unmistakable facial expressions and gesticulation. His typical "staring" expression with a characteristic monocle on his nose can certainly recall any admirer of an old classics. He is also masterfully portrayed by Jaroslav Bejvl on the obverse of an extraordinary issue of a gold commemorative medal. The portrait is completed with the dates 1981 and 2016 and the name VLASTA BURIAN. The reverse is formed of a creative motive of a film strip coiled into a spiral, which bears the inscription FILM ACTOR and COMEDIAN. In the bottom part of the medal is then shining a sculpture of Burian's signature. A collectable unique matter and at the same time a matter of heart, will beautify only 99 numismatic collections!
