Gold half-ounce medal Marta Kubišová proof numbered | Czech Mint The Mint says about this coin: Product description Marta Kubisova becomes another star singer who is paid tribute to by the half-ounce gold medal from the Czech Mint from the cycle “Golden Nightingales”. The woman who celebrates her 75th birthday has entered not only as a triple winner of a prestigious music survey but also as a voice of freedom. The lyricist and poet Petr Rada collaborated with a number of Czechoslovakian stars - such as Karel Gott, Waldemar Matuska and Hana Zagorova, who have already appeared in a series of musical mintages from the Czech Mint. However, Martha's Prayer has become perhaps the most famous of his hundreds of texts. It originated as a completely innocent piece for the popular TV program Song for Rudolph III, however, its meaning changed after the infamous August events of 1968. The text inspired by the words of John Amos Comenius, who spent most of his life in exile where he was waiting for return to a non-free country, became an expression of national resistance to the occupation of the Warsaw Pact troops. The artist of the song, whose music was composed by Jindrich Brabec, was Marta Kubišová, as her name suggests. Just a few days after the occupation of Czechoslovakia, the singer managed to smuggle the soundtrack into a radio station in order to encourage the people to resist their oppressors. The regime did not like this "insult" - it gradually worked to destroy her career and life. This, they achieved, but not forever. The prayer was repeated by Marta Kubisova again in 1989, when accompanying the Velvet Revolution on Wenceslas Square. The original commemorative medal was made by an expert artist MgA. Martin Dašek. The obverse side is dominated by the singer's face with simplified features and the star symbolizing the oppression of the totalitarian regime covers her mouth. The composition is complemented by the name MARTA KUBIŠOVÁ. The reverse side of the medal is filled with the text of Martha's Prayer with four years - 66, 68, 69 and 70. The first three dates remember the victory of the Golden Nightingale survey, the fourth is again covered with a five-pointed star and symbolizes a ban on public appearances. The first 100 pieces of this limited emission bill of 300 half-ounce medals are hand-numbered on the edge. On offer at the Czech Mint you can also find a collector's etui where Marta Kubisova has a place alongside the other stars in the music hall of fame. More Less | ||||||
