1 ounce gold medal Český Krumlov Castle proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
1 ounce gold medal Český Krumlov Castle proof Thanks to its splendid architecture, cultural tradition and size, the state castle of Český Krumlov ranks among the most significant Central European historic sites. His interiors and architectural details show the development of the castle from the 14th to the 19th century. The obverse side of the medal features the castle complex viewed from the town. The castle tower reconstructed in the Renaissance style – a symbol of both the castle and the town -- is a dominating feature. It is surrounded by the oldest buildings on the background of newer ones which complement the overall picture. The castle is based on a picturesque rock with words below arranged in two lines “ZÁMEK / ČESKÝ KRUMLOV“.The one and only motif on the reverse side is the coat-of-arms of the Rožmberks (Czech noble family) with squires. It ensued from a combination of the original five-leaf rose of the Rožmberks with the emblazonry of the Italian princely family of Orsini. Bears as squires were inspired by the same (Orsini – ursus – bear).Limited edition of 300 pieces.
