Set of three gold medals Vaclav Havel - dramatist, dissident, president proof | Czech Mint The Mint says about this coin: Product description Three gold medals in an extraordinary commemorative set by the Czech Mint symbolize the three largest stones in the mosaic of life of Václav Havel, who would celebrated his 80th birthday in 2016 - his fatal roles of the playwright, dissident and president. Although Václav Havel was moreover the philosopher, philanthropist, humanist and devoted husband, these three tasks have influenced his career the most and at the same time changed the course of the lives of all the inhabitants of the former Czechoslovakia. The obverse side of of each medal is designed by a top designer Vojtěch Dostál, DiS. and are devoted to the faithful portraits of Václav Havel. While his reading glasses emphasize the artist's philosophical detachment, his flowing hair indicates an unwillingness to obey conventions. Although the president is superficially chained by a tie and a formal haircut, his vivid insight reveals, that the inside has not changed. The reverse of the medals abstractly describes the important aspects of the individual roles of Václav Havel. The artistic contribution of the playwright to the world is expressed in a collage of the names of his masterpieces. The dissident defiance to the totalitarian regime is shown by the gesture of glory, expressed by two extended fingers indicating the letter "V". The president is characterized by a silhouette of the Castle, a place which, after decades of oppression once again become a beacon of freedom. When the reverse sides are placed together according to the diagram engraved on the lid of the luxurious wooden box, a symbol, that everyone unmistakably links with Vaclav Havel, will appear - the heart symbolizing love and truth that must prevail over lies and hatred. An integral part of each set is a publication about the life and legacy of Václav Havel from the pen an expert on the word - PhDr. Petr Koura, Ph.D., an expert on our modern history.
