Gold medal Karel IV. 100-crown banknote motif proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Product description The official banknotes of our country have always been true artistic gems. Since the founding of Czechoslovakia and later as an independent Czech Republic, leading artists such as Albín Brunovský, Karel Svolinský, Alfons Mucha and Max Švabinský have helped create our beautiful currency. The designer of our current set of banknotes is none other than Oldřich Kulhánek. According to the expert assessment of numerous distinguished Czech artists and graphic arts professionals, the designs of Oldřich Kulhánek best met all the demanding criteria and the banknotes subsequently created according to his templates are among the best ever created here or anywhere else in the world. The Czech Mint is adding yet another piece to the fabulous collection of medals featuring the motifs of current Czech banknotes. This year’s edition is the one hundred crown note, featuring Czech and German King and Roman Emperor Charles IV. Specifically it is his bust which adorns the obverse of this graceful medal of pure gold. The ruler’s likeness was prepared for minting by academic sculptor Vladimír Oppl based on the graphic design of Oldřich Kulhánek. The composition on the obverse is rounded out with the inscription 2015 and INV. OLDŘICH KULHÁNEK along with the value of the original banknote. To do the relief on the reverse, the Czech Mint asked talented artist and daughter of Oldřich Kulhánek, MgA. Klára Melichová. She prepared the image of the Charles University seal which is also found on the reverse of the one hundred crown note. The precision crafting of both sides and the timeless popularity of the Father of the Nation are two great reasons to add another gem to your coin collection – treat yourself to another beautiful addition from the Czech Mint!
