Nordic gold medal Praga V. "Charron" standard | Czech Mint

The Mint says about this coin:

Nordic gold medal Praga V. "Charron" - ČSR cars standard The first medal of the series “History of motoring in the Czech lands“ features Praga V, also known as “Charron“.The manufacture of Praga cars was preceded by the founding of Pražská automobilní společnost s r. o.(Ltd.). The company was established in 1907 by two machine manufacturers that made an equal investment in the joint venture. The first cars were manufactured since 1909 by the licences of the French firm Charron-Giardot-Voight and the Italian firm Issota-Franchini. Praga V featured a two-cylinder liquid-cooled in line engine with a capacity of 1,206 cm3 and a performance of 9.6 HP at 1,400 rpm, which allowed a speed of up to 65 km/h. The radiator was placed behind the engine, similar as in Renault automobiles. Both beam axles were cushioned by lengthwise semielliptical plate springs. The vehicle weighed 600 kg.In 1909, 25 Praga V cars were manufactured in the fir series, followed by 10 cars in 1913 in the second series, i. e. 35 vehicles in total. Various models of Praga V were made – the car body was built by the customer’s wish, either as a passenger car or a light lorry. The obverse side features in the centre a car viewed from a 3 angle accompanied with words PRAGA V „CHARRON“ in circumscription and the year of manufacture of the car above it. The company logo "PRAGA" is placed below the car, as well as the mintmark of the Czech Mint (on the left side) and the mark of the author (on the right side). On the reverse side wecan read the title of the series "HISTORIE MOTORISMU V ČESKÝCH ZEMÍCH“ (HISTORY OF MOTORING IN THE CZECH LANDS), slightly arched to create the impression of a tire. The centre of the composition features rays inspired by a driving wheel and a circle as a symbol of rotation. More Less
