Product description When we say Rio de Janeiro, most of us think of the famous Copacabana beach and the monumental Christ the Redeemer statue. In 2016, however, its main symbol became the XXXI. Summer Olympics. Before the expedition from around the world competing for the coveted sports medals, the Czech Mint has prepared their own commemorative medals of pure silver. On Rio gazes the entire world - people will not only watch the athletes, but also how Brazil can handle the the extraordinary responsibility. Brazilian games are only the third Olympics hosted by the Southern Hemisphere and the first ever Olympic Games, which takes place in the South American subcontinent. To 10 thousand kilometers distant exotic country will travel a historically smallest Czech team, but the chances of 106 athletes representing the Czech colors are considerable. To Rio, alongside the new hopes, have also qualified all four gold medalists from London. The author of the artistic design of the commemorative medal is Mgr. Petr Horák, who has a rich experience in the sports themes - he works, for example, on a series of the Czechoslovak Football Legends and from his workshop has also arosed the two medals dedicated to the most famous sports festival. The first resembled the XXX. Summer Olympic Games in London 2012, the second then the XXII. Winter Olympics in Sochi 2014. As in the previous Olympic medal, the obverse of this issue bears a perspective view of the Olympic Stadium. Is it the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange - an original multipurpose building known by the nickname "Engenhão", destined for organizing football and athletic competitions and one of many Brazilian Olympic venues that can accommodate up to 60 thousand spectators.
