Set of three silver medals Vaclav Havel - dramatist, dissident, president proof | Czech Mint The Mint says about this coin: Product description The extraordinary issue of commemorative set of silver medals, which the Czech Mint issued on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Václav Havel, is introducing one of the most outstanding personalities of our history in three different roles of playwright, dissident and president. These three fatal roles in Havel's life complement each other and one without the other could not exist - the volubility of the playwright allowed the dissident to openly express his views, and his reputation of disagreement is dedicated to this president hallmark. Similarly interconnected are also the three mintages from the workshop of a top designer Vojtěch Dostál, DiS. Each of them has its unquestionable charm, but together they form something unique. The obverse sides of the medals carry the vivid portraits of Václav Havel - a messy hair of the playwright and dissident symbolizes a wildness and reading glasses perched low on his nose an intelligence. The president exchanged a civil clothes for a formal suit and tie and also his hair more sedate, but his eyes continue to radiate a strength and determination. The reverse sides are then an abstract expression of the individual roles of Václav Havel. The playwright is characterized by a collage of the names of countless works of art, which attracted attention at home and throughout the free world, the dissident’s moral superiority over the totalitarian regime is commemorated by his fingers raised in a symbol of victory and silhouette of the Prague Castle belongs to the democratically elected president. If the individual reverse sides lines up chronologically they reveal a heart - a personal symbol associated with the immortal statement of Václav Havel "Truth and love must prevail over lies and hatred." A solution to this "conundrum" is engraved on the lid of a luxurious wooden box, which in addition to the medals themselves contains a booklet with an extensive thematic treatise of the historian PhDr. Petr Koura, Ph.D. More Less | ||||||
