Silver medal Karel Fiala - Limonadovy Joe proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Product description The idyllic world where deadeye gunfighters sit in saloons sipping on Crazy Cola is a classic example of Czech humor masterfully brought to the silver screen by Oldřich Lipský based on the book by Jiří Brdečka. The famous comedy was filmed in 1964 and titled Lemonade Joe - a Horse Opera. Appearing in the leading was the unimitable Karel Fiala. To celebrate his 90th birthday, the Czech Mint has created an exquisite silver commemorative medal. This piece will be sure to please not only the birthday boy, but all enthusiastic coin collectors and film fans! Karel Fiala was born on August 3rd, 1925 in Ostrava. His great passion for singing led him to the conservatory in Prague and then later a short engagement with the National Theater. However, his path in life would take him for several decades to a different Prague stage - the Karlín Musical Theater. There he excelled in numerous productions, and his talent and art was particularly admired by operetta connoiseurs. In the fifties, Karel Fiala also began to flirt with the silver screen, appearing in several films such as the popular fairy tale Dařbuján and Pandrhola. But the role which earned him the adoration of a nation was Lemonade Joe. After this huge success, Karel Fiala only appeared in films sporadically, due to the fact that in 1968 he left the Communist Party and no longer had the opportunity to apply his craft. Nevertheless, in 1988 he was named a meritous artist. During his lifetime, he has managed to marry three times and father four sons. This commemorative medal of pure silver from the Czech Mint bears the hallmarks of superb medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek. On the obverse, the designer presents Karel Fiala today along with the inscription Karel Fiala 90 years. The reverse then skillfully depicts the actor in his most famous role. The portrait is completed with the inscription Lemonade Joe – 1964. This masterpiece presents a magnificent piece of Czech cinematic history and will brighten the collections of all those who remember those times, and film buffs in particular.
