Silver medal World Championship in Ice Hockey 2015 | Czech Mint The Mint says about this coin: Product description Ice Hockey World Championship means two weeks of sports euphoria for the vast majority of Czech citizens. But when the supreme championship takes place directly in our stadiums, enthusiasm becomes absolute ecstasy. The Czech Mint is one of the big fans of our national team and the fact, that it presents an extraordinary issue of the silver commemorative medal Ice Hockey World Championship 2015 in top proof quality speaks volumes. World Cup takes place in our country, or the former Czechoslovakia, for the tenth time and our champions demonstrated their rivals, that they clearly formed part of top level hockey. Apart from the last championship in 2004, when our team was already eliminated in the playoffs, despite excellent results, we did not leave the national ice rink without precious metals. At first championship, which was held here in 1933, our team won bronze and in 1938, shortly before the signing of the Munich Agreement, they repeated that success. Paradoxically, in the battle for bronze they defeated Germany, which soon occupied our country. The first championship after the Second World War took place here in 1947 and the result was the dreamt of first Czechoslovak gold. Another victory on home ground followed in 1972 and 1985. First-class players and a solid fan base are the strengths of our hockey, and the Czech team will try to convince their rivals about that in 2015. The mascots of this year's championship became Bob and Bobek - rabbits of the hat. The author of the cheerful characters is well-known illustrator Vladimír Jiránek. The animated friends appear as sportsmen on the original silver medal made by talented Irena Hradecká, DiS. The author of two rabbits humorously portrayed them from the front view on the obverse side of the medal and from the back view on the reverse side of the medal. The motif is accompanied by a bilingual inscription MISTROVSTVÍ SVĚTA V LEDNÍM HOKEJI ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA / ICE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CZECH REPUBLIC. The medal is a fresh collector's item that should form part of any hockey fan`s collection. But it will please only 800 of them - the issue is strictly limited! More Less | ||||||
