Silver medal Andrew the Apostle standard | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Product description Czech Mint added another beautiful piece to its popular collector series “The Apostles“ – a silver medal dedicated to saint Andrew. After Peter, John and Jacob it is the fourth medal out of twelve; each of them commemorates the life and legacy of one of the closest disciples of Jesus Christ. Saint Andrew was born in Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee and, similar to his younger brother Simon (who later became Peter the Apostle), he earned his living as a fisherman. He was the disciple of John the Baptist and, later on, one of the first disciples of Jesus Christ. As an Apostle Saint Andrew was a missionary in Asia Minor (Antalia) and Scythia from the Black See to the Volga River. In his old age he settled in Patras, Greece, where he was arrested, tortured and eventually crucified on an X-shaped cross, which has since been called a "Saint Andrew's Cross". The design of the medal was created by students of VOŠ in Jablonec nad Nisou. The obverse side depicts Saint Andrew as martyr on the X-shaped cross, the reverse is divided into four parts showing symbolic scenes from his life. Only 500 pieces of the long expected medal, which is delivered in a blue leather case, were issued.
