Silver medal Old-Town Astronomical Clock - Scorpio proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Product description After 600 years of its existence the spectacular Prague Astronomical Clock still flawlessly shows time, date, the position of Sun, and the Moon in the sky, astrological cycles as well as holidays in the Christian Calendar. It is justly the most popular sight in Prague – among other things also thanks to the beautiful paintings by famous Czech painter Josef Mánes who decorated the calendar plate. Czech Mint decided to transfer these romantic paintings also to twelve splendid medals and to dedicate each of them to one sign of the zodiac. The autumn 2014 issue is governed by one of the most contradictory signs – the Scorpio. In the Mánes calendar it is held by a small child. The allegorical painting attached to this time period shows a young couple harvesting grapes. The reverse is dominated by the portrait of Josef Mánes and the overall view of his calendar. Other decorative features include the Prague municipal emblem, the name Josef Mánes and the words Prague Astronomical Clock. The Scorpio silver plated medal from the series Prague Astronomical Clock issued by Czech Mint was designed by talented academic sculptor Daniela Kartáková. Next to being an attractive collector item it can also serve as an original gift for everyone born between 23 October and 22 November.
