Product description Lookout towers are usually built on high hills from where you can watch the natural scenery around. And because the landscape in the Czech Republic ranks among the most rugged and picturesque, there are many lookout towers in the country. Czech Mint dedicated an entire collector series to lookout towers, in which it presents three of them every year. The last medal struck in 2014 depicts the lookout tower Babylon. The lookout tower Babylon is one of the oldest in Moravia. It was erected on Zelený vrch (the Green Hill) – 491m above sea level. The stone tower in the Empire style was built in 1831 by count Jindřich Vilém Haugwitz, the owner of the Náměšť manor. The 24.5m high lookout tower has a square base, while higher stories are octahedral. The design for the medal depicting Babylon lookout tower was created by Josef Oplištil. The obverse is dominated by the tower with a compass rose in the background. On the reverse the author placed a map of the Kramolín village where Babylon is situated, and the compass needle. After lookout towers Štěpánka, Josef’s tower on Kleť and Babylon, you can expect nine more medals to be added to the series. We have prepared a luxurious wooden case for the twelve-medal set .
