Product description If you look into the astrological writings, you would find that silver is a corresponding metal for the native of the sign of Cancer. Not only for them The Czech Mint prepared a beautiful sterling silver medal in extraordinary proof quality dedicated to this sign. Timeless motif based on astrological board by Josef Mánes will fascinate numismatists, regardless of the sign - medal is further expected to increase popular collector's series from the Astronomical Clock by The Czech Mint. The original calendar panel clock by Josef Mánes from1885 wsa replaced 15 years later by the copy by J.K. Liška, and since 1946 the clock is adorned with a replica created by academic painter Bohumír Číla, renowned for his restoration work just at the Prague Astronomical Clock. Mánes` original is in the Museum of Prague. Calendar board is a masterpiece, which showcases variations on the topic of each month in the year in which the author reflected his lifelong inclination to the countryside and everyday life of the common people. Rural motifs accompany smaller pictures representing the 12 signs of the zodiac. In the center of the plate there is a medieval symbol of Prague with golden walls and towers. The edge of the circle consists of 365 names, the names of saints and fixed holidays. Silver medal with the motive of Cancer elaborated by academical sculptor Daniel Kartáková. The obverse side is decorated with medallions based on Mánes` originals. One of them represents June in the form of a young couple mowing and raking grass, the second shows Cancer itself supplemented by endearing Amoret. The reverse side of the medal bears a portrait of Josef Mánes positioned at the forefront of entire astronomical board.
