Two-ducat CR 2014 Royal apple proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Product description Czech ducats coined in the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou have been popular among collectors since 1997. This traditional coin series must not be missing from any annual Emission Plan of the Czech Mint, manufacturer of Czech commemorative coins and medals. The ducat quartet consists of a one-ducat, a two-ducat, a five-ducat and a ten-ducat coins. The theme usually covers a longer period with just the year changing - the motifs on the ducats from 1997 onwards are shown below. The 2014 quartet presents a brand new theme - Coronation Jewels. The two-ducat coin with the weight of one quarter of a troy ounce (7.78 g) and the diameter of 22 mm is the third best achievement of the imaginary ranking of the quartet. The motif of this ducat is the Royal Apple - a symbol of secular power and reign of a Christian monarch over the world. The Royal Apple was made in 1527 for King Ferdinand I of Habsburg. The apple is also made of 18-carat gold. Its shape is slightly flattened, the diameter is 11.9 cm and the height is 9.8 cm. The cross and the ring of the apple are decorated with 8 sapphires, 6 spinelles and 31 pearls. The author of the two-ducat coin with the coined year 2014 is the significant Czech Academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, a demanded author of commemorative coins and medals with historic motifs.
