2 Ducat CR 2022 Coronation vigil - Vyšehrad proof | Czech Mint
The Mint says about this coin:
Traditional Ducat Series The year 2022 marks 675 years since Charles IV was crowned King of Bohemia, and this anniversary is commemorated by the traditional Ducat series of the Czech Mint. The gold two-ducat features the Father of the Fatherland at the coronation vigil. Charles IV, together with the highest provincial and church dignitaries and other distinguished guests, went to Vyšehrad on the eve of the coronation to pray and solemnly receive the sacred Přemyslid relics. Following the example of the mythical Přemysl the Ploughman, he put on his lycra shoes and took a peasant's bag, thus honouring the simple origins of his Czech ancestors and recalling the equality of all people before God. Medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS., dedicated the obverse side of the double ducat to the royal procession leaving the Vyšehrad Basilica. The reverse side, which is common to all four coins of the Ducat series, presents a charismatic portrait of Charles IV standing in front of the facade of St. Vitus Cathedral. The gold mintage weighing two ducats is issued in an edition of only 100 pieces and respects the specifications set by the legendary St. Wenceslas ducats.
