Product description The first silver coin of the Czech National Bank with a nominal value of 200 CZK embossed in quality proof was dedicated to our oldest cartographic memory - the Klaudyan map in 2018. It originated in the course of 500 years ago and it is information source of the beginning of the 16th century on the territory of Czech lands. The versatile scholar Nicholas known as Klaudyan lived in Mladá Boleslav at that time. He started as a doctor and pharmacist, but then focused his energy on the printing art, which he considered to be a breakthrough for spreading important ideas. This was the story of the oldest printed map of Bohemia, which was published in 1518. It was not an ordinary map, but an allegorical letter enriched with the period reflection of the relations seen by the followers of the Protestant unity of the brethren. The actual map, which served as a guide for pilgrims traveling to Rome, is the bottom third of the press. The upper two thirds belong to social, moral and religious scenes, the most striking being the graphics of a wagon fitted with angry passengers that are impressed in both directions - probably symbolizing the religious division of the country and its unhurried political climate. The winner of the CNB Art Competition academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů has become one of the most successful czech medal makers. The committee of special interest touched this time so much that its proposals won first and second place. The winning reversal presents a detailed picture of the map itself, along with the inscriptions of KLAUDYAN MAP, 1518 and 2018. The reverse side is then dedicated to the legendary scene with a car, a series of periodical heraldic symbols, the nominal value of 200 CZ and a copy of the CZECH REPUBLIC.
