2500-crown gold coin Michal Mine in Ostrava proof The main motif of the coin is the Michal Mine in Ostrava, the first electrified mine in the territory of the Czech Republic.On the obverse side of the medal an electric hoist on a semi-circular sector represents the equipment of the mine. Czech Mint’s sign is placed close to the right border of the sector, while in its lower part we can read the denomination of the coin and abbreviation of currency“2500 Kč“. The name of the state and a composition of heraldic animals from the big Czech national emblem is placed above the electric hoist. The lion is in the centre, Silesian eagle at the right and Moravian eagle at the left.A hoist tower of the Michal Mine is featured on the obverse side of the coin with the year of mintage below. Initial letters of the author of the design, academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, are placed at the right border below the text in circumscription.The field of coins struck in proof quality is polished to a high shine, while the relief is matted, and the edge is smooth. Coins in standard quality and proof are made of 999,9 gold.Each coin comes complete with a postcard-sized catalogue card made of red semi-carton. It features depiction of the coin in gold colour, its relief being dry-stamped. The coin description is in Czech and English.
