Gold Quarter Ounce 2024 Year of the Dragon, Coin from France - detailed information

The obverse of the coin features a circle above right representing a temple door with Chinese-style ornate handles and latch, on which the inscription RF stands for "République Française" - French Republic. This is surrounded by an ornate ring, below which a ribbon with the inscription CALENDRIER CHINOIS (Chinese Calendar).

The rest of the surface is divided into twelve uneven sectors, each representing one year in the cycle, with the year near the rim (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029), and depictions of the respective zodiac animals.

On two lines above left, the face value 50 EURO

The reverse design depicts a dragon surrounded by an ornate ring decorated with traditional Chinese motifs.

On the body of the dragon below, the Chinese character for dragon, 龍.

Around above, the inscription ANNÉE DU DRAGON 2024 (Year of the Dragon 2024).

Near the rim below left, the Cornucopia privy mark of the Paris Mint. Near the rim on the right, the personal mark of the Chief Engraver of the mint Joaquin Jimenez - a small square whose upper left quarter is occupied by a smaller square - symbolising his initials JJ, plus a stylised rhinoceros head.
