This coin is part of the "Mongolian Nature" collection, characteristic with the fact that the depictions are not in relief but are silhouettes cut away.
Th Mint says about it: Mongolian Nature launched in 2013 with the hugely successful Crying Wolf coin. The gilded silver coin did away with relief and portrayed a precision-cut wolf howling in front of a full moon. Subsequent issues stayed true to the series’ initial design concept and have portrayed charismatic Mongolian animals in the unprecedented, minimalist silhouette fashion that is immediately recognisable and has no equal in the world of modern numismatics.
New issues of "Mongolian Nature" were launched on an annual basis at the World Money Fair in Berlin. The final coin concluding the series was revealed in February of 2017 and shows the majestic silhouette of a Roaring Deer."
Mongolian Nature Owl – CIT Coin Invest AG The Mint says about this coin:
Back to the roots – this is what the 2016 release of the Mongolian Nature series embodies. The powerful Eagle Owl is perched high on a branch, watching a full moon rising in the night sky and perhaps listening to the howling wolf in the distance. Collectors of the series will immediately recognize the sickle-shaped moon as an homage to the «Crying Wolf», the first and award-winning issue of the series. Once again, the new release is expertly cut and represents a true scene of wild Mongolian nature. more CIT Item ID: 27556 Country: Mongolia Date of issue: 2016 Denomination: 500 Togrog Material: Silver .925 Quality: BU Mintage: 2500 |
