Old Picture Postcards Hluboká Castle is another important landmark that appears on the gold mini coin of the Czech Mint set in a replica of a historical postcard. The magnificent complex in the South Bohemian town of Hluboká nad Vltavou is one of the most attractive Czech sights for tourists. The neo-Gothic chateau rebuilt in the Tudor style of the English Windsor Palace has no equal in our country, which is why it has become an ideal motif for colorful postcards, which were extremely popular after the end of the correspondence era at the end of the 19th century. The original window lithography, which served as a model for the packaging of the coin, was made in 1897 and presents not only the castle itself, but also the surrounding nature with extensive fields. The reverse side of the coin, which was processed by the medal maker Petr Patka, DiS., is dedicated to the broken facade of the chateau and the decorative text STÁTNÍ ZÁMEK HLUBOKÁ NAD VLTAVOU. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are licensed by a foreign issuer, the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary attributes - a nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. and year of issue 2021.
