Product description Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a brilliant Austrian composer and virtuoso, became famous throughout the world, but it was the capital of the Czech lands, where at the time of his creative peak proved successful, as nowhere else. On the occasion of 230th anniversary of his first visit to Prague comes half-ounce gold coin of the Czech Mint. The artist appreciated the respect, that the city paid him and he often visited with his works of art. The first time he came here was in 1787, when he heard about the warm reception of his opera The Abduction from the Seraglio and The Marriage of Figaro, which were perceived uncertainly in Vienna. Mozart became an honorary guest of many spectacular events and on 17th January he directed himself the performance of The Marriage of Figaro at the Nostitz Theatre. "With great pleasure I watched all the people hopping about to the music of my Figaro, because there was talk of nothing else but Figaro. No other opera but Figaro, Figaro forever. Certainly a great honor for me." – W. A. Mozart Already in August the same year, the composer returned to Prague. He brought with him an unfinished musical score of a new opera Don Giovanni and began to prepare the world premiere personally. During the rehearsals with the soloists, orchestra, direction and the author of the libretto, Mozart was continuously composing his masterpiece. The gala premiere took place on October 29 and met with great acclaim. "My Praguers understand me" said the proud author after an enormously successful performances. The last time Mozart went to Prague was in 1789 with the opera La clemenza di Tito, with which the Bohemian Estates ordered him to celebrate the coronation of Emperor Leopold II. to King of Bohemia. A mere three months later, he went to great eternity, the love for him in the Czech Republic, however, lives to this day. The proof is a gold coin from the workshop of a talented medaillist Irena Hradecká, DiS. She dedicated the reverse side to the portrait of the composer inspired by contemporary painting and the inscription WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART. The obverse side bears the attributes of the licensor for the issuance of commemorative coins of the Czech Mint, which is the island of Niue - the name and profile of Queen Elizabeth II., year of issue 2017 and the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (NZD). The composition is supplemented with a violin and keyboard. Part of each gold coin is an illustrated certificate of origin, which reminds Mozarts action in Prague. More Less
