The portrait is surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year. A special minting technique of UV printing has been employed to create the reverse design that features a colored image of two relief horses. The name of the coin is indicated at the top of the coin. In addition to the Chinese symbol standing for the Year of the Horse, the reverse also features a gilded horseshoe, one of the most popular good luck symbols. The Chinese believe that because horses are born to race or travel, all Horse people need freedom and usually leave home young.
