The stunningly beautiful set under the title "The Durer Codex " consists of twenty-four silver proof Niue coins making up a complete colored image replicating the sketches of Albrecht Dürer, a great painter of Northern European Renaissance art famous foremost for his graphic works. These .999 silver bars come set between two sheets of thick Perspex housed in a luxurious wooden presentation case. The obverse side of each coin bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the legends denoting the Queen’s name, the name of the issuing country as well as the issuing year. The face value of the coins and metal fineness are also indicated on the obverse. The exquisite reverse design of the silver unit features the reproductions of the following Dürer sketches: Dürer Coat of Arms (1523), Adam and Eve (1504), Melencolia I (1514), The Southern Hemisphere (1515), The Sun of Justice (1499), Praying Hands (1508), Small Triumphal Car (1508), Hercules Kills the Symphalic Bird (1520), Apollo with the Solar Disc (1504), Praying Hands (1508), Hands of Christ (1506), The Madonna with a Music Making Angel (1519), Nemesis (1502), The Madonna on the Crescent (1498-1500), The Rhinoceros (1515), Two Lions (1520), Abduction (1516), Nude Woman with the Zodiac (1502), The Small Horse (1505), Agony in the Garden (1508), Saint George (1505), St. Peter and St. John healing the Cripple (1513).
