Issued by the Pacific Island of Niue, this gorgeous silver coin is dedicated to the awesome fresco of the Last Judgement on the ceiling of the dome of the Florence Cathedral. Struck of 1 kilo .999 silver with rimless color print, the giant coin consists of nine pieces and measures 195x195 mm. The mintage is extremely limited – only 500 pieces worldwide! The obverse of each coin displays the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year. When put together, the reverse features a small replica of the iconic fresco applied on the coin with use of rimless color printing. It occupies 3 600 m2 being the biggest artwork within the cathedral created in 1568-1579 by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari. Designed by Arnolfo di Cambio (c1245-1302), the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is the most important landmark in Florence and the fourth largest church in the world. It is the result of six centuries of work and named in honor of Santa Maria del Fiore. The Fresco Under the Dome coin comes housed in a magnificent presentation box.
