To mark the 850th Anniversary of Notre Dame in Paris, a beautiful coin set has been released by Niue. It comprises 15 edgeless bars of different size, which all put together form a 1 kilo coin unit. Struck of .999 silver in BU quality, the set measures 157,5x268 mm; the worldwide mintage is extremely limited – only 250 pieces. The obverse of the domino coins displays the state emblem of Niue surrounded by the inscriptions indicating the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year. The solid reverse of this massive work of numismatic art features the detailed representation of the Notre Dame façade. As one of the famous churches in the world, this 12th-century gothic cathedral is included on the Unesco World Heritage List. Notre Dame is renowned for its beautiful stained glass windows most of them dating back to the 13th century when the cathedral was constructed. The reverse of the coin boasts a beautiful colored glass window insert replicating that of the Notre Dame Cathedral. The silver collection is set between two sheets of thick Perspex with a display stand to demonstrate it in full size and reveal the brilliance of the detailed engravings.
