Alphonse Mucha became famous for his unique style. He is known for marvelous paintings of women performed with perfect delicacy and giving the best feel of tender beauty. To celebrate the painter's anniversary, the Niue Island issued a series of coins focused on the Zodiac, one of the most famous works by A.Mucha. The Aries coin is a very special item, as it has a unique image on the reverse. The obverse is common for all items in the series: a small effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by a horoscope circle that depicts zodiacal signs the way they were painted by the master. Placed between the royal mint and the zodiac is a series of inscriptions that explain the country of issue, the name of the regent, the face value and the year when the coin and the series saw the light. If you turn the coin around, you will see a stunning image of a woman copied from the Zodiac work by A.Mucha. What is so special about the Aries is that the women for all coins in the series were taken from different master's pictures, but only the reverse of Aries contains the reproduction of the lady from the famous Zodiac painting itself. The beautiful profile looks specially great when placed on the shiny background with amazing ornaments of perfect .925 silver. The reverse also has a styled inscription of the name of the coin and a small emblem of Aries.
