The Mint says about this coin:
The 2012 Our Friends Kitten series of Niue coins is genuinely eye-catching in attempts to unveil the charming mystery of the cat world. The .999 pure silver coins with the mintage quantity of 8 000 pieces each are dedicated to the lovable, charming and sweet pet animals adored by millions of people in the world. The hero of this coin is called the Scottish Fold, a very special breed of cats possessing a dominant gene that affects the cartilage of the ears. The obverse of the Niue coin bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. The inscriptions surrounding the portrait include the Queen’s name, the name of the issuing country, the face value of the silver coin and its issuing year. The beautifully designed reverse features one of the cutest little things called the Scottish Fold. The full color image is set against the silver background engraved with the outline of a cat and the inscriptions indicating the name of the coin and series. These intelligent, sweet-tempered and soft-spoken cats are a blend of the British and American shorthairs. All Scottish Folds are born with straight ears, the latter starting to fold at around three weeks.
