The Mint says about this coin:
Celebrating the beauty and power of magnificent birds of prey, these high quality coins have been presented by the Pacific island of Niue as part of the Birds of Prey 1oz Silver coin series. An Osprey is vividly depicted on the the mirror-like finish of this proof coin. It is known to be one of the most widespread birds of prey in the world and can be found near ponds, rivers, lakes and coastal waterways on every continent except Antarctica. The obverse of the Niue coin bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. The inscriptions surrounding the portrait include the Queen’s name, the name of the issuing country, the face value of the coin and its issuing year. The reverse dramatically captures an Osprey descending upon a fish with its mighty claws and wings outstretched. Being superb fishers, Ospreys hunt by diving to the water's surface from some 30 to 100 feet up. They have got gripping pads on their feet that help them catch fish from the water with their curved claws and carry them for great distances. The inscriptions of the name of the coin and series, its weight and metal fineness are also indicated on the reverse.
